Claire Danes was born on April 12, 1979 in New York City, USA. She attended Yale University but dropped out after two years to focus on her acting career.

She first gained recognition when she portrayed Angela Chase in My So-Called Life, for which she won a Golden Globe Award and secured an Emmy nomination.

In 2010, she starred in HBO’s Temple Grandin. She then won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie. As of 2011, she plays Carrie Mathison in the Showtime series Homeland.
