Anna Chlumsky was born on December 3, 1980 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She started working in the show business as a model appearing in an advertising campaign. She rose to fame when she was cast as Vada Sultenfuss in My Girl and its sequel, My Girl 2.
She took a hiatus from acting, attending the University of Chicago where she graduated with a degree in International Studies in 2002.
In 2006, she started acting again, appearing in such television shows as 30 Rock, Law & Order and Cupid. As of 2012, she plays Amy Brookheimer in the series Veep.
