Biography:

Janet Jackson was born on May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana, USA. She first gained recognition as the youngest child of the Jackson family. She started her career in the variety show The Jacksons.

She then rose to fame after the release of her third studio album entitled Control in 1986 under A&M. In 1991, she signed with Virgin Records. Her debut album under the label, Janet, was released in 1993 and established her as a sex symbol.

That same year, she appeared in her first starring film role in Poetic Justice. For her performance, she won the MTV Movie Award for Best Performance.
